The Research Valley provides access to engineering and agriculture expertise through the presence of world-class infrastructure within the Texas A&M System, Texas A&M University, several key State of Texas research agencies headquartered in College Station. Companies who locate in The Research Valley can form unique partnerships across the A&M System and access unique research infrastructure that also spans all corners in the state of Texas.


The Texas A&M University System

The Texas A&M University System was officially established in 1948 and has evolved into one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation.  fWith a statewide network of 11 universities, seven state agencies, a comprehensive health science center, and a system administration office, industry partners have access to some of the most world-class resources and expertise with a location right here in The Research Valley.  

The Texas A&M University System is in the business of training tomorrow’s next generation of scientists, engineers, business leaders and health care professionals through its undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The A&M System educates nearly 115,000 students and reaches another 22 million people through service each year.  With 27,000 faculty and staff, the A&M System has a physical presence in 248 of the state's 254 counties and a programmatic presence in every Texas county.


Texas A&M System research and service agencies are internationally recognized for providing emergency response and workforce training, continuing education, technical assistance and technology transfer.

Texas A&M Engineering

Administered by the A&M System and headquartered in College Station, TEES, TTI, and TEEX are state engineering research agencies that each conduct quality research to provide practical answers to critical industry needs.

Texas A&M Engineering ranks among the finest and most comprehensive engineering programs in the nation and provides access to a broad range of technical expertise and world-class engineering infrastructure and facilities.

 

 

Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES)

  

The Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) the engineering research agency of the State of Texas and provides engineering solutions through partnerships with industry and conducting world-class research.  TEES is the engineering research network that connects substantial engineering research labs, centers, and facilities across the state. TEES serves as a catalyst for collaborations and serves industries in every region of the state of Texas. 

 

TEES has been providing quality engineering research and top technology to address state and national problems for nearly 100 years.  TEES partners with industries, communities, government agencies, and academic institutions to find solutions to improve quality of life, foster economic development and enhance education. 

 

Research activities focus on relevant state and national needs in areas including energy, infrastructure, national/homeland security, health care, informatics, workforce development, and education.   The agency serves Texas with headquarters in College Station and specialized research centers and regional division offices throughout the state.



 

The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX)

 

  Texas Engineering Extension Service is an internationally recognized leader in the delivery of emergency response and workforce training, exercises, technical assistance, and economic development. Headquartered in College Station, the agency provides customized training and technical solutions impacting homeland security and economic development.

 

  Each year, TEEX serves approximately 200,000 people representing all 50 states, every U.S. territory and 62 countries. TEEX offers programs in fire and emergency services, search and rescue, homeland security, public safety and security, public works, safety and health, and economic development.

 

  TEEX operates the world’s most comprehensive emergency operations training complex. Brayton Fire Training Field boasts 132 training stations and live-fire props, while Disaster City® is a 52-acre mock community with collapsed buildings and rubble piles for urban search and rescue training. The state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Training Center uses computer-based simulations for incident management training.

 

  Home to the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center, TEEX has been preparing emergency responders to combat natural and man-made disasters since 1998. TEEX also sponsors Texas Task Force 1, which serves as a state and federal urban search and rescue team, and oversees Texas’ swift-water rescue program.


 

Texas Transportation Institute (TTI)

  For more than 50 years, as a state agency and member of the Texas A&M University System, Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) has led research efforts and sought solutions to the problems and challenges facing all modes of transportation – surface, air, pipeline, water and rail. The institute’s research, education, and technology transfer focus on many areas, such as safety, security, mobility, asset management, environment, and workforce development. 

 

With headquarters on the Texas A&M University campus in College Station, TTI maintains a full-service safety proving grounds facility and erosion control laboratory in Bryan, and has offices in Arlington, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Galveston, Houston and San Antonio. At any one time, TTI has research projects in about 30 U.S. states and 20 foreign countries.

 

The institute works with nearly 200 sponsors annually at all levels of government and the private sector and is recognized as one of the finest higher education-affiliated transportation research agencies in the nation.

 

As the largest and one of the finest university-affiliated transportation research organizations in the nation, TTI has made research breakthroughs across all facets of modern transportation. The institute is home to twelve Centers of Excellence and partners extensively with both public and private organizations. 

Texas AgriLife Research

Headquartered at Texas A&M University in College Station, AgriLife Research serves the entire state through its on-campus units and regional Research and Extension Centers.  AgriLife conducts hundreds of projects spanning many scientific disciplines and its research is international in scope. With a new name and a renewed vision for serving the state of Texas, AgriLife Research delivers life-sustaining and life-changing impacts to citizens throughout the state.

 

A member of The Texas A&M University System, AgriLife Research has 1,700 employees, 375 of which are doctoral-level scientists who are nationally recognized experts in their fields. AgriLife Research collaborates with more than 30 nations. In 2009, expenditures will be more than $170 million.

 

Today, Texas AgriLife Research is the state's premier research agency in agriculture, natural resources, and the life sciences. An agency of the Texas A&M University System, AgriLife Research collaborates with the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, and others to help strengthen the state's position in the world market by meeting modern challenges through innovative solutions.
